When did you decide you wanted to be a teacher? - My senior year of high school, I just knew that this profession was for me.
What are somethings you did not know about this job before you started teaching? - How much time, literally, it takes up. Having a life outside of school is realistically impossible.
What is the importance of reading and writing in this career? - Well you tell me, you have to teach it so you better know it inside and out.
What are the stressful parts of your job? - There are lots of stressful parts - balancing grading and planning, content and coversation, and just keeping your head above water half the time.
What are the rewards of this job? - Getting to go to work every day and work with students.
How has being an educator changed your life? - Really given me a purpose, joy, and excitement for getting up every day.
What is you daily schedule like? - Wake up at 4:45 am, drive to school, plan, teach, reflect, soccer practice, grade, plan, reflect, fall asleep around midnight. Get up the next day and do it all over again.
What do you do in the summer? - Right now it will be enjoying the time before teaching, but usually I find a job or enjoy the time with family and friends.
What is your family life like? - Well I talk to them weekly at least, but life is a little crazy teaching so that takes up a lot of time.
If you have kids how do they affect your job? If not do you want kids? Have you thought of how it might affect your job? - No kids yet. In the future, after year four for sure.
What are your goals? What are you working towards? - Working towards sucessfully completing student teaching and finding a job in Colorado. College graduation in May.
Have you completed grad school? If not, how are you going to fit it in? - No not yet, after year two for sure. Just take it one step and one class at a time. Probably try and get lots of it done during the summer and not work.
Are you involved in any extra curricular activities? What do you do in your free time? - I am coaching girls soccer right now and am currently taking three other classes on the side. I also have volunteer work and a side job on top of all that. What free time? I usually talk to friends and sleep to be honest in my free time. I love watching hockey and working out too.
